COLUMBUS, Ohio - Juniors Erika Murphy, Emily Fung and freshman Olivia Kassouni wrapped up the 2013-14 swimming and diving season for the Fighting Illini Friday afternoon at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
Erika Murphy kicked of the competition earning a score of 242.90 in the one-meter on Thursday. Murphy finished 24th out of 45 divers, falling six spots short of qualifying for the 18-person final.
"Erika had a really good day (on Thursday)," diving coach Chris Waters said. "She was very focused and performed well. I was really happy for her and it was terrific to see her dive well in such a meet."
Kassouni finished with a 206.25 in the one-meter, while Fung earned a score of 202.85.
On Friday, in the three-meter dive, Kassouni led the Illini with a score of 223.65. Murphy earned a score of 207.55, while Fung posted a 193.45.
"It was a bit of a rough competition today for many of the divers in the 3 meter event," Waters said. "Thankfully, the girls really remained rather loose. Unfortunately, we still have a few too many errors. They kept battling though. So, there were some positives."
The divers did not qualify for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
