Saturday Results

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Singles play was the name of the game on Saturday at the Olympia Fields Country Club. The Illinois men's tennis players received mixed results going 6-7 in day two action. The Illini's two ranked singles competitors, No. 17 Jared Hiltzik and No. 121 Tim Kopinski shone bright, as they both went 2-0.

Both Hiltzik and Kopinski defeated No. 101 Lloyd Glasspool of Texas. Hiltzik first took the honors with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 victory in the morning, before Kopinski followed suit in the afternoon with a 7-5, 6-2 win. Hiltzik then completed his day with a 6-3, 7-5 straight set victory over Kentucky's Kevin Lai. Furthermore, Kopinski remained undefeated at the OFCC Tournament, now 5-0 through the first two days, with a 6-1, 7-6(1) win over Virginia's Jordan Daigle. 

Rounding out the victories for the Fighting Illini were Blake Bazarnik's 6-1, 7-5 win over Notre Dame's Billy Pecor and Julian Childer's 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Memphis' Jarryd Wong.
