- Defeated No. 115 Ille Van Engelen of Ohio State to help the Illini to the Big Ten Tournament title and a 4-3 win over the third-ranked Buckeyes

- Son of Jan and Zofia Kopinski
- Twin sister, Melissa, plays on the Illinois women's team, making the tandem the first set of twins to play on both Illini tennis teams in Illinois history
- Enjoys skiing, cycling and playing hockey
- Favorite athlete is Jens Voigt because he is a great cyclist, great teammate and never gives up
