Day 1 Results
NAMPA, Idaho. - Freshman Ashley Spencer collected her first All-American honors as she finished sixth in the 200m at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday. The school record holder crossed the line with a mark of 23.34 to garner her first career All-American honor.
"I am so proud of Ashley," head coach Tonja Buford-Bailey said. "She finished higher than she was ranked. She performed well and did a really nice job. She knows she can compete with the best and can keep her composure at the national level."
In the 60m hurdles, sophomore Breeana Coleman finished fourth in her heat and placed 12th in her first ever trip to the NCAA Championships. Coleman's time of 8.23 is her third-fastest time she's clocked this season.
LSU's Kimberlyn Duncan won the national title in the 200m with a time of 22.74 while Clemson's Brianna Rollins qualified the fastest time in the 60m hurdles with a mark of 7.93.
"Breeana had a little bit of a slow start, but it was good experience for her," Buford-Bailey said. "She will have an awesome outdoor season. Overall, I'm happy with our results."
ESPN3 will stream the meet live tomorrow from 7-10 p.m. CT. A tape delay of the championship will air Sunday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
