WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Fighting Illini swimmers captured several personal-best times at the Boiler-Make-It Last Chance Meet Saturday afternoon. The Orange and Blue competed alongside swimmers from No. 20 Purdue, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Missouri State.
Junior Michelle Mehnert posted personal bests in the 200 IM (2:12.38) and 100 free (54.42), while sophomore Kathleen Knight captured personal bests in the 200 IM (2:10.88) and 100 fly (57.51). Fellow sophomore Sarah Coady added another lifetime best for the Orange and Blue with her performance in the 200 breast (2:22.63).
Freshman Courtney Pope made her Illini debut in the 50 free (23.93) and 200 IM (2:06.98), while classmate Emily Wilkinson competed in the 50 free (26.93) for the first time as an Illini. Fellow freshmen Alyssa Toland (1:00.44 - 100 fly), Anne Goering (2:15.76 - 200 IM), Marin Thompson (55.88 - 100 free) and Emma Williams (27.36 - 50 free) and sophomores Alyssa Petruzzello (200 free - 1:57.96) and Coady (1:57.06 - 200 free) also swam new events for the Orange and Blue.
Illini divers will return to action at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, March 11.
