CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Freshman Tessa Adams and sophomore Britni Fisher will be representing the Illinois divers at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, March 14-16 at Purdue University. The Zone C Championships will feature divers from Division I schools in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. Both Illini will be competing in the one-meter competition on Friday, followed by the three-meter on Saturday, with both days set to start at Noon CT.

"NCAA Zone Diving is a great quality meet," diving coach Chris Waters said. "The girls earned their way to be there and I want them to realize that it's a reward for having a good year. They learned some valuable lessons at the conference meet, competed very well, and now the plan is to carry over from that, having a very solid meet and shooting for consistency. If they can do that, it puts them in a very good position."

To qualify for the championships, divers must have met or exceeded a score of 265 in the one-meter and 280 in the three-meter. Adams qualified on Dec. 5 at the Miami (OH) Invitational with a score of 268.10 in the one-meter, while Fisher qualified in the team's home opener against Iowa State on Oct. 24, scoring a 277.65 in the one-meter and 287.93 in the three-meter.

The top three divers from the one-meter, top four from the three-meter and top two from the platform will move on to the final NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, March 18-20 at Purdue.
