Minneapolis, Minn. - Fighting Illini diver Britni Fisher competed in the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships this past weekend at the University Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
The freshman competed in the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions, but was unable to participate in Sunday's platform diving competition due to a minor foot injury sustained Saturday.
On Friday, Fisher competed in the three-meter preliminary competition and finished with 178.20 points in 35th place.
Saturday, Fisher returned to the boards to compete in the one-meter preliminary competition and received 203.10 points and placed 33rd.
"We would love to have finished higher in the standings, but everything that we've been working on in practice she did during the meet," diving coach Chris Waters said. "We were very happy and I'm sure she will definitely see all of her efforts pay off next year."
Fisher, along with the rest of the swimming and diving team, are done with competition for the 2009 season. The Fighting Illini look to have a productive off-season and return strong for the 2010 season.
