Illinois completed the final day of the Windy City Classic today, finishing the 15-team event held at the Glen Club in Glenview, Ill. in 12th place with a 54-hole score of 907. Individually, sophomore Hailey Koschmann led the Illini with a final-round score of 3-over-par 75 and a three-round total of 223 strokes. Koschmann finished in a tie for 18th place.

Illinois carded a final-round score of 305, improving two strokes from its second-round score. Junior Raquel Hopton (225) finished the tournament with a 4-over-par 76 and tied for 26th place. Sophomore Samantha Sloan (227) closed out the final round with a 78 to tie for 35th. Sophomore Maureen Liddy (235) carded her best round of the tournament on the final day with a 76 to finish in a tie for 62nd. Sophomore Kaitlyn Wampler (238) tailed a final-day score of 80 and concluded the event in a tie for 70th. Rounding out the Illini effort was freshman Crystal Smith (235), who competed as an individual and shot a final-round 84, tying her for 40th. It was Smith's first time competing for the Illini.

"We had a fantastic first round," said Illinois head coach Renee Slone. "Being tied for sixth on a challenging golf course and a competitive field, it shows we can compete. We did a nice job getting it up and down as a team. We need to work on putting, especially converting those from 10 feet and under, whether it be for birdie or par."

Nationally ranked Purdue (860) finished 14 strokes ahead of second-place Tulane (874) to earn the team title. Arizona (885), host Northwestern (890) and Notre Dame (890) rounded out the top five. Maude-Aimee LeBlanc of Purdue took medalist honors with a three-round score of 211, finishing 5-under par for the tournament.

"We have a few things to work on to get ready for Iowa," Slone said. "We're getting off to fast starts in tournaments and rounds. Now we need to work on finishing."

Up Next: The Illini will travel to the Hawkeye Women's Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa on Oct. 17-18.
