LINCOLN, Neb. - The Illini wrapped up the Chip-N-Club Invitational in 10th place after a final round 304 at the par-72 6,068-yard Wilderness Ridge Golf Course. Illinois tallied a 54-hole total of 922 as five freshmen competed for the youthful Orange and Blue squad in the season-opening tournament.

"This was a great event for us to start off with and everyone certainly learned a lot," head coach Renee Slone said. "Overall, it was a solid start, and we finished with a respectable round today. Everyone has a better feel of what to expect from here on out."

Hailey Koschmann (226) fired a final round 75 to lead the Illini and finish in a tie for 14th. Samantha Sloan (228) tied for 20th after a final round 76. Abby Cotter (232) matched her opening round score with another 77, tying her for 33rd. Nora Lucas (238) improved on yesterday's rounds by five strokes with a final round 76 and finished tied for 51st. Maureen Liddy (248) turned in a round of 86, tying her for 69th.

"Everyone was able to turn in a score that counted at least once, so that was good to see," Slone said. "I was impressed with their ball-striking over the last two days, but we still have a lot to work on at practice. We will focus on putting and course management to prepare for the Badger Invitational."

Host Nebraska (884) fired a final round 291 and overtook Arkansas-Little Rock (888) to earn the tournament victory. East Carolina (897), UC Riverside (904) and Texas State (906) rounded out the top five. Sara Wikstrom (214) of Arkansas-Little Rock earned medalist honors thanks to a final round 1-under 71, edging out Nebraska's Mary Kate Bird (215) by a single stroke.

Illinois will be in back in action on Sept. 27-28 as they head to Madison, Wis., for the Badger Invitational.
