Roof Named All-Decade by Coastal Plain League

March 26, 2007

Senior shortstop Shawn Roof (Paducah, Ky.) was named to the Coastal Plain League All-Decade team, which honors the top players, by position, who have played in the CPL during its first 10 years. Roof was a two-time All-Star - once at second base and once at shortstop - for the Fayetteville SwampDogs, leading the team with a .315 average in 2005.

The team includes one head coach, two players per infield position, six outfielders, two DHs and eight pitchers. Of the 26 players honored, nine of them have already gone on to make their Major League debuts since playing in the CPL.

Roof was an offensive sparkplug for the SwampDogs in his two seasons in Fayetteville, scoring 61 runs with 37 RBI and 35 stolen bases. He had a .406 on-base percentage in 2006 - second on the team - to go along with 37 runs, 19 RBI and a team-best 20 steals. In 2005, he stole 15 bases with a .446 on-base percentage, scored 24 runs and drove in 18.
