After carding a final-round score of 332 today, the Illini fell one spot in the team standings to finish 15th at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate. Illinois finished with a 54-hole total of 976. Hosted by the University of Michigan at the par 72 UM Golf Course, the Lady Northern is the fall preview for the Big Ten Championships. The tournament featured all 11 Big Ten teams, with the host Wolverines winning the title with a score of 881, defeating Ohio State (885) by four shots. Missouri's Maria Ohlsson was the only golfer in the 95-player field to shoot below par on the weekend, capturing medalist honors with a 2-under par score of 219.
The Illini struggled today with only one golfer, senior Lyndsey Milligan, breaking 80. Milligan shot a 4-over 76 during today's third round action, the lowest score by a UI golfer on the weekend. Milligan climbed 14 spots in the individual standings to finish tied for 40th with a three-round total of 234. This marks the first time in her career that Milligan has been Illinois' top finisher in a tournament.
Freshman Kristine Cook was Illinois' second finisher, tying for 68th place (244), while junior Megan Godfrey tied for 75th (247).
The Illini are next in action Oct. 4-5 at the Shootout at The Legends in Franklin, Ind.
