Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Illini women's golf team shot rounds of 327 and 317 today during the first two rounds of the 54-hole Lady Northern Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Michigan at the par 72 UM Golf Course. The Lady Northern is the fall preview for the Big Ten Championships, featuring all 11 conference teams and 15 in all. The Illini's 36-hole score of 644 has them currently in 14th place. Michigan and Missouri are tied atop the team standings at 585. Individually, Missouri's Maria Ohlsson is in first place out of 95 golfers with a 3-under par score of 141.
Leading the way for the Illini today was senior Lyndsey Milligan, who is tied for 54th with a score of 158. Milligan had an 81 in round one and then carded the lowest round by a UI golfer on the day during round two with a 79. Freshman Kristine Cook sits two shots behind Milligan with a 160, while junior Megan Godfrey has a 161.
The third and final round of the 54-hole Lady Northern will be held Sunday.
