West Lafayette, Ind. - Illinois improved two places during today's final round to finish ninth at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational, hosted by Purdue at the par 72, 6,225-yard Kampen Course. The Illini shot a third consecutive team score of 325 to finish ninth with a 54-hole total of 975. Michigan State won the 12-team tournament with a score of 918, defeating Indiana by four strokes (922).
Senior Marla Cox produced her sixth Top-20 finish of the year, tying for 18th place with a score of 235. Cox added a 79 during today's final round to go along with scores of 79 and 77 yesterday.
Illinois' best score of the day came from senior Michelle Carroll, who carded a 5-over par 77. Scoring for the Illini today in addition to Carroll and Cox were sophomore Megan Godfrey and junior Lyndsey Milligan. Godfrey and Milligan tied for 57th place.
Indiana's Danah Ford claimed medalist honors, finishing first out of 70 players with a score of 221.
Illinois will next head to Columbus, Ohio for the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships, April 23-25.
