University of Illinois senior Carey Davis was named the second-rated fullback in the country according to Sporting News' 2003 College Football Yearbook set to hit news stands in June.
Davis returns as the team's leading returning receiver and rusher from a year ago. He caught 29 passes for 201 yards and carried the ball 59 times for 319 yards. Davis, the St. Louis native, heads into his third-year as the team's starting fullback, a career that has included five touchdowns and over 1,300 yards all-purpose yards. Last season, Davis made the magazine's Top-10 list as the sixth-best fullback in the nation.
The Illini football team is set to open the 2003 season on Aug. 30 against Missouri in the State Farm Showdown at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.
