Illini Swimmers Complete Final Day of US Open

Federal Way, Wash. - The Fighting Illini swimmers finished the final day of the US Open on a good note as they scored five points on the final day. Ilkay Dikmen finished the final day with the best Illini finish of the three day event recording a 12th place finish in the 200 fly in a time of 2:35.91. That finish gave the Illini team five points for the competition placing them 88th out of a 100 plus groups.

Kirsten Koepcke made the finals in the 800 free placing 47th with a time of 9:11.37. Freshman Barbie Viney almost came up with a huge performance but fell just short of the finals in the 200 breast finishing a very respectable 34th with a time of 58.49.
