Beutjer Joins Illini Football Squad

University of Illinois head football coach Ron Turner announced the addition of Iowa-transfer quarterback Jon Beutjer to the Illini football team. Beutjer is enrolled at the University and will begin practicing with the team next week. He is required to sit out the 2001 football season and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
"We're happy to have Jon," Turner said. "He is a great addition to the team and we look for great competition from the quarterback position this spring."
"I'm glad to have finally made my decision," Beutjer said. "Coach Turner has a great reputation for developing quarterbacks and his system is a perfect fit for me. Right now, I look forward to meeting my new teammates and learning the offense."
