COLUMBUS, Ohio.-- The Illinois women's golf team shot a tournament total of 985 to tie with Eastern Michigan for 12th place at the Lady Buckeye Invitational. Ohio State won the 16-team tournament with a three-round total of 899 at the 72-par, 6,037-yard OSU Scarlet Course.
Freshman Marla Cox and sophomore Renata Young tied with each other for 51st place to lead the Illini. Both golfers shot 245 strokes at the event. Michelle Carroll finished with a score of 247 to take 59th place. Laurin Kanda and Stephanie Cheney each shot 250 strokes to tie for 65th. Mari Walters tied for 83rd with a 259.
The Illini head to the Big Ten Championship at the University of Minnesota for four rounds beginning on Friday and concluding on Sunday.
