Greg Carlson Hired As Director Of Football Operations

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -
University of Illinois head football coach Ron Turner announced today the hiring of Greg Carlson as Director of Football Operations for the Illinois coaching staff.
Carlson has spent the last 20 years coaching football at Wabash College, 18 seasons as head coach. He posted a 112-57-2 record while at the helm of the Wabash program, including four conference championships and three conference "Coach of the Year" awards. Prior to his stint at Wabash, Carlson coached at the University of Evansville as the defensive coordinator from 1977-79.
"We are very excited about Greg joining our staff," head coach Ron Turner said. "He brings a tremendous amount of experience to the program after 18 years as a very successful head coach. He is extremely organized and detail-oriented which is needed at this position."
Carlson's responsibilities will include the day-to-day operations for the entire Illinois football program. He will work closely with the coaching staff and DIA administration in all aspects of planning, including facilities, travel, recruiting and game management.?
Carlson received his undergraduate degree from Wisconsin-Osh Kosh and went on to get his masters degree from the University of Oklahoma. He and his wife, Laura, have two children, Meghan and Matthew.--
