1. Today's 31-0 Homecoming win over Iowa marked Illinois' first Homecoming win since a 20-13 win in 1993 against Northwestern. Illinois is now 4-3 against Iowa in Homecoming contests in Champaign.
2. This was Illinois' first shutout since a 7-0 win over East Carolina in 1995. It was Illinois' first shutout against Big Ten competition since a 34-0 win over Purdue in 1990. Illinois had gone 80-straight games against Big Ten competition since last posting a shutout win.
3. Iowa was last shutout in 1998, losing to Wisconsin 31-0. The last time Illinois shutout Iowa was a 33-0 win in 1983 in Champaign.
4. Illinois' last shutout on Homecoming came in 1973 when Illinois beat Iowa 50-0.
5. Today's attendance of 62,639 was the largest crowd to attend an Illinois Homecoming game since 64,425 saw Illinois beat Northwestern 20-13 in 1993.
6. Mondrain Long's 4th-quarter interception returned for a touchdown was his first career interception and his first career touchdown. His 75-yard TD run was Illinois' first interception returned for a touchdown since Asim Pleas returned an interception 89 yards against Middle Tennessee in 1998.
7. Illinois QB Kurt Kittner's 221 first half passing yards were a career-high for a first half for the junior.
8. Illinois junior running back Rocky Harvey moved into 10th place on Illinois' career rushing list after rushing for 104 yards today, giving him 1853 career yards.
9. With three touchdown passes this afternoon Illinois quarterback Kurt Kittner moved into fourth place on Illinois' career touchdown pass list. He now has 37 touchdown passes over his three-year career.
10. With two sacks this afternoon, Illinois senior defensive end Fred Wakefield moved into a tie for fourth place on Illinois' career sacks list. The senior now has 18 career sacks, tying him with both Kevin Hardy and Moe Gardner. Wakefield also had a total of three tackles for loss this afternoon, tying him for 10th place on Illinois' all-time tackles for loss list with 31 (Mike Poloskey).
11. Illinois recorded a season-high five sacks as a team today. That included two sacks from each Fred Wakefield (which ties his career high) and Terrell Washington (which sets his career high).
