Rookies Report To 1999 Fall Camp

CHAMPAIGN, Ill - University of Illinois head football coach Ron Turner welcomed a class of 31 rookies to campus Sunday afternoon, a group that will begin two-a-day practices Monday morning.

Highlighting the 1999 recruiting class were 23 scholarship athletes and eight walk-ons. The rookies and their parents went through an orientation which included the taking of photos, physicals, equipment fitting and meetings with the coaches and athletic department staff. The players will undergo two days of practices at Memorial Stadium before the veterans report on Wednesday, Aug. 11. Practice times are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
