2001 Highlights: Received the Illini Scholar-Athlete Award ? Appeared in two games, both on March 17 ? Struck out two batters in one innings in Illini?s 8-1 win over Charleston Southern ? Did not give up a run and has allowed just one hit in her three innings of work.
Prep Highlights: Carondelet ranked fifth in the state, won the BVAL North Coast Section title and placed second in the BVAL ? Named First Team All-BVAL, Contra Costa Times Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-State ? Sports Focus listed Tanner as the Great All-America athlete and the NCS Softball Player of the Year ? Coached by Del Himango and Steve Driscoll ? Four-time all-city selection and three time all-city player of the year ? Played for R+R Gold (coached by Bob Regpalula, Bill Brock and Manual Luna) and Shockers Club (coached by Tom Garvin and Mike Martinez) Teams ? R + R Gold qualified for regionals in 2000. ? Three-time all-tournament team recipient at the Queen of the Mountain tournament ? Named to Who?s Who Among High School Athletes for three years, the Power Bar Team, and All East County First Team ? Contra Times named Tanner a First Team Pitcher and to the Top 100 Athletic Team.
Personal: Enjoys art, camping, and swimming ? Received several academic awards in high school, including Who?s Who Among High School Students, the U.S. History Award, and Chemistry Award, while a member of the Spanish Honor Society, and the California Scholarship Federation ? Plans to major in biology (pre-medicine) ? Born on Feb. 21, 1982. Daughter of Craig and Shelly Tanner. ? Graduated with highest honors. ?
