Dylan Roney is in his first season as a defensive analyst at Illinois in 2020. He came to Champaign-Urbana from Western Kentucky, where he was a defensive line graduate assistant in 2019.

Roney is responsible for collaborating with the defensive coaching staff in implementation of action plans to designed to strategically improve the defense.

Roney was a three-year starter at Ferris State, where he was a second team All-Conference selection and 2017 second team Academic All-American pick. Ferris State was 34-6 in  his three years as a starter, including a trip to the 2016 DII semifinals. 

Roney stayed at Ferris State following graduation, first as a graduate assistant then as defensive line coach/recruiting coordinator. He graduated from Ferris State in 2018 with a degree in integrative studies.
