Background:
The Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Illinois) was established to centralize genomics research on campus by creating interdisciplinary lab spaces, bringing together faculty from a variety of departments on campus in order to collaborate and collectively work to solve issues impacting society through a genomics lenses. Stemming from that same interdisciplinary and collaborative work, we proposed a partnership with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) to share these concepts with future scholar-athletes so they can better understand their training and preparation for athletic events, become engaged and informed citizen scientists, and possibly consider Illinois as a viable academic option. We proposed to develop an active hands-on learning experience for scholar-athletes that emphasizes: (1) the role of the human microbiome in health and athletic performance; and (2) the concept of sports in space. We believe this combination of core content will capture the imagination of the participating students, open them to new ways of thinking, and enhance their ability to make choices regarding their own high-performance athletic training.

Each camp will be limited to 80 campersCost:
Co-ed Gymnastics:- Commuter - $500
- Resident - $600
Co-ed Tennis:
- Commuter - $425
