CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 7 Illinois men's gymnastics returns to Lincoln, Neb., for the Big Ten Championships this weekend. The Illini will compete in the team and all-around competition on Friday at 7 p.m. CT, while the individual event finals are slated for Saturday at 7 p.m. CT.

LAST TIME OUT

Three different Fighting Illini earned event titles on March 14 at No. 3 Nebraska.

Garrett Schooley, Preston Ngai, and Sam Phillips all claimed titles as the Orange and Blue closed their 2026 regular-season campaign.

Starting the afternoon on floor, Schooley used a 14.100 to take home the title. With a career-best 14.600, Ngai won his first event title of the season on pommel horse. Phillips produced a season-high 14.300 on high bar, which tied his career high in the event and earned the event title. The fifth-year has won the event title in each of Illinois' last two meets and three times overall this season.

Five Illini Earn Six CGA Regular-Season All-America Honors

The Illini saw five student-athletes secure CGA Regular-Season All-America status following their rankings in the final regular-season Road to Nationals rankings.

NGAI NAMED B1G GYMNAST OF THE WEEK (MARCH 3)

Fighting Illini junior Preston Ngai was named Big Ten Men's Gymnast of the Week following his standout performances against Greenville and Navy, the conference office announced on Tuesday (March 3).

Ngai secured two event titles during Illinois' tri-meet win, claiming individual triumphs on still rings and vault.

On rings, the Elk Grove, California, native anchored the Illini lineup, using a 13.750 to secure the event title.

After the meet reached the halfway point, Ngai's 14.350 on vault was good for his second title of the afternoon and his first on the apparatus this season.

Ngai became the first Illini gymnast to win a weekly conference award this season, while it marked the second Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor of his career.
