Fighting Illini Falter against #21 Ohio State on Senior Day

URBANA, Ill. – Fighting Illini softball fell to #21 Ohio State, 4-1, in the 2025 season finale at Eichelberger Field on Saturday,
The Fighting Illini dropped a 22-28 overall record and a 6-15 conference mark. The ranked Buckeyes improved to 43-11-1 overall and 16-6 against Big Ten opponents.
Yazzy Avila went 1-for-2 with an RBI in the contest. Delaney Mosley and Gabrielle Debevec also tallied hits in the loss.
The Fighting Illini lose four seniors, Stevie Meade, Paige Berkmeyer, Lauren Wiles and Zoie Howard, following the conclusion of the 2025 campaign.
Meade leaves the program as the program and single season leader for sacrifice hits (32). Berkmeyer's 41 runners caught stealing for her career ranks third in the record books. Wiles' 114 appearances rank sixth all-time in the Illini records.
