PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Illinois softball fell to Rutgers, 4-1, in the series finale at the RU Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The Fighting Illini dropped to 21-25 this year and 5-13 in conference play. The Scarlet Knights improved to 19-33 overall and 3-16 against league opponents.
Eileen Donahue went 2-for-3 on the day. Yazzy Avila had the lone extra-base hit for the Illini, a double, in the contest. Stevie Meade recorded her 32 career sacrifice bunt in the game.
