URBANA, Ill. – Saturday's action from the ITA Team Indoor Championships saw the Fighting Illini fall to the reigning indoor national champions from Atkins Tennis Center. Fourth-seeded No. 3 Oklahoma State claimed the decision 4-0 to wrap up Day 2 play.
Illinois moves to 2-4 on the season and 2-3 at home this season as the squad continues to work through its gauntlet of a schedule. The Fighting Illini are in the midst of a nine-match stretch against Power 4 opponents, not shying away from the toughest out-of-conference competition.Â
Oklahoma State improved to 6-2 on the season with Saturday's win.
McKenna Schaefbauer and Kasia Treiber were the first off the doubles courts, earning a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles to improve to 3-3 working together in dual play.
Oklahoma State would ultimately win the opening point, claiming 6-3 victories at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
The Cowgirls added to their lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. OSU followed that up with victories at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-2) and No. 6 (7-5, 6-3).
Action on the odd-numbered courts would go unfinished.
