NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Illinois women's golf opened the 2024-25 season with a fifth-place finish the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational after carding 54-hole team total of 893 (+29). The Illini posted a third round score of 299 (+11).
Anna Ritter, competing as an individual, recorded the best finish of her career, tied for sixth, after firing a third round total of 73 (+1) to finish the tournament at 3-over. Ritter also recorded her first top 10 of her career.
Victoria Zheng also posted a top-10 finish, placing 10th, in the first event of her Illini career. Zheng shot a final round 75 (+3), birdieing twice along the way.
Lexanne Halama finished 18th following her third round 78 (+6), her first top 20 since the 2021-22 season.
Yurang Li and Brielle Mapanao both finished tied for 30th after final rounds of 74 (+2) and 75 (+3), respectively. Brielle Burns finished 42nd in her collegiate debut, posting a final round 75 (+3).
TCU took home the team title at 7-over (871), while Washington State's Alice Johannson earned individual medalist honors at 4-under (212).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Sept. 23, when they head to Charlottesville, Va., to compete in the Cavalier Regional Preview.
