Men’s Tennis Continues Homestand with Contests Against Purdue, Indiana

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini men's tennis will host Purdue on April 19 at 6 p.m. CT and Indiana on April 21 at 12 p.m. CT for Senior Day at Atkins Tennis Center. 

History

Illinois has an impressive 106-11-1 record over Purdue, with the first match dating back to May 13, 1905, when the Illini took a 6-0 win over the Boilermakers.   

Head coach Brad Dancer has only lost once to Purdue, a 4-3 defeat on March 1, 2017, in Boilermaker territory. 

The Illini have a 52-44 record over Indiana, facing the Hoosiers for the first time in 1932. Illinois defeated Indiana, 5-1, in enemy territory. 

Scouting Report

Purdue is coming off a two-match homestand during which the Boilermakers defeated Wisconsin, 4-2, but lost to Nebraska, 5-1.  

Indiana also faced Wisconsin and Nebraska recently, losing to the Cornhuskers, 5-2, but beating Wisconsin, 5-2, at the IU Tennis Center in Bloomington, Ind

Indiana is slated to compete with Northwestern on April 19 at 6 p.m. CT in Evanston, Ill., before heading to Atkins Tennis Center. 

The Hoosiers have one singles player ranked, with Sam Landau coming in at No. 90 in the ITA Rankings.

They also have a doubles pair ranked, with Michael Andre and Ilya Tiraspolsky coming in at No. 64.
