CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 25 Illinois women's gymnastics team will travel to Michigan to continue Big Ten competition against No. 10 Michigan State on Friday evening at 6 p.m. CT at the Jenison Field House.
History
Illinois and Michigan State have competed against each other almost every year since 1976, with the Spartans barely holding a 21-18-1 record over the Illini. MSU won the first 11 competitions, with Illinois not winning a meet against them until 1994. The Spartans have won the last three matchups: first in 2020 (195.775-196.150), then in 2022 (196.450-197.425) and, most recently, 2023 (196.425-197.450).
Scouting Report
Michigan State is coming off a massive win against No. 11 Michigan (198.050-197.625), scoring over the coveted 198.000 mark.
Sophomore Sage Kellerman scored her second perfect 10.0 on vault in the competition, giving the Spartans their third perfect 10.0 of the season after sophomore Nikki Smith scored a 10.0 on vault on Jan. 28 against Iowa.
Ranked Illini
After scoring a 195.650 in a win over Rutgers, Illinois is now ranked No. 25 in the country.
Mia Takekawa also earned a ranking of No. 17 after scoring a 9.875 on beam in Huff Hall.
