Hill Qualifies to NCAA Cross Country Championships

PEORIA, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's cross country teams completed the NCAA Midwest Regionals on Friday (Nov. 15) from the Newman Golf Course at Bradley University. Senior Halle Hill qualified to her first NCAA Cross Country Championships with her sixth-place finish in the 6k today, 19:55.74. She's the first woman to punch her ticket to the national meet since Olivia Howell in 2022.

Sophomore Avril Andre collected All-Region honors with her 14th-place finish (20:16.45). Hill improved 10 spots from her 16th-place finish and Andre improved 44 spots from her 58th-place finish from the Midwest Regionals last year.

Junior Alex Partlow earned All-Region honors on the men's team with his 23rd-place finish on the program's 10th-fastest 10k time of 29:54.2. He improved 24 spots from his 47th-place finish at the Midwest Regionals last year.

The men's team placed 8th out of 29 teams with 230 points and the women's team placed 8th out of 33 teams with 261 points.

Senior Sam Poglitsch rounded out the top-3 Illini women finishers in 37th-place (20:45.02) a 25 spot improvement from 62nd last year. Graduate student Joshua Daggett was the second Illini man to cross the line in 43rd-place (30:34.8). Junior Will Merrick rounded out the top-3 Illinois men finishers in 45th-place (30:36.2) a 23-spot improvement from 68th last year.

Two other Orange and Blue men clocked new 10k personal bests in senior Anthony Maida (30:43.5) and junior Brady Masters (31:14.4).
