GREENVILLE, Ill. – No. 4-ranked Illinois men's gymnastics team defeated Greenville 400.950-388.650 Saturday afternoon.
The Illini also took home a title win in each event – Michael Fletcher on floor, Brandon Dang on pommel horse, Ashton Anaya on still rings, Garrett Schooley on vault, Tate Costa on parallel bars and Logan Myers on high bar. Costa also won in the all-around with a score of 79.150.
"It was an honor getting to compete in Greenville's first ever home competition," head coach Daniel Ribeiro said. "We are excited about pulling out the win and sweeping the events. We also had some really standout performances. But we need to start making certain improvements. Both our hit and stick percentages came out flat. Rings were the only event we escaped without a fall. This is going to be an important week ahead if we expect to take down Oklahoma in our home opener. The guys are motivated to get back to work."
Kicking the meet off on floor, Michael Fletcher had a big routine, earning a 14.300 breaking his career-high. Reigning B1G Floor Champion Connor McCool followed behind him with a 13.650 with Amari Sewell scoring a 13.350.
With Fletcher's floor win, he now has a title in every event and all-around.
Moving onto pommel horse, Brandon Dang won the first title of his career by scoring a 14.450. Will Hauke also had an impressive score, notching a 13.600 with Sebastian Ingersoll was close behind, scoring a 13.500.

Freshman Garrett Schooley showed his talents on vault, scoring a 14.750 and taking his first-career title. Evan Manivong slightly trailed Schooley, scoring a 14.700 with Fletcher earning a 14.600.
Costa exploded on parallel bars, breaking his career-high by scoring a 13.650. Fletcher was a step behind, taking a 13.500.
Myers continued his success on high bar, scoring a 14.000 with Ingersoll taking a 13.300.
