CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini track and field teams are set for their last regular season meet of the year, the East Coast Relays, on Fri.-Sat. April 28-29 hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. Freshman Olivia Campbell aims to extend her school record hammer throw of 60.55m (198-8) this weekend.
Junior Tyler Sudduth will make the trip to Jacksonville to compete in the shot put and discus. Last weekend he won both events and climbed up to second in the shot put record book, 19.34m (63-5 1/2).
Two of the latest additions to the record book are high jumpers senior Alex Babbington and sophomore CJ Shoaf. Babbington cleared 2.13m (6-11 3/4) and is tied for fourth in school history; Shoaf cleared 2.10m (6-10 3/4) and is tied for eighth.
Junior Kelsey Rothas looks to continue her climb in the pole vault record book under Dennis Mitchell. She vaulted her way up to fourth in program history, 4.16m (13-7), and took second last weekend at the Gary Wieneke Memorial.
National Champion junior Olivia Howell will compete in the 800m and 1,500m. Her 2:02.72 800m sits second in school history and is the twelfth fastest in the country.
Sophomore Tacoria Humphrey will jump in both the high and long jump. Her school record 6.55m (21-6) long jump ranks seventh in the country currently. She sits at seventh in the record book in the high jump, 1.78m (5-10).
