CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Senior Mia Takekawa has been named First Team All-Big Ten for the third time in her career after being named first team in 2020 and 2022 and second team in 2021.Â
Fellow senior Mia Townes was named Second Team All-Big Ten for the second time in her career, after earning the same award in 2021.
Mia Takekawa - First Team All-Big Ten
Takekawa has continued shining on beam this season, earning back-to-back 9.975s and is currently No. 7 in the nation on the apparatus. Takekawa has also tied her career-high on bars (9.925) and set season-highs on floor (9.875) and all-around (39.750). Â
Mia Townes - Second Team All-Big Ten
Townes has shined on and off the mat this season after tying her career-high on floor (9.925) and beam (9.925) and earning a season-high on vault (9.90). She was also named a finalist for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup, the first Illini female to do so.Â
The awards come the week before the Illini are set to compete in the Big Ten Championships at 11 a.m. CT on March 18 in Iowa City, Iowa.Â
