ROSEMONT, Ill. – Isabel Sy was selected as the Big Ten Conference Women's Co-Golfer of the Week after a career-best performance at the ICON Invitational, the conference announced on today.
Sy posted a 54-hole total of 205 (-11), a career-low, to finish all alone in fifth, also the best of her career. It was the third time this season she has finished in the Top 10 of an event.
In the second round of the tournament, Sy set the program record by firing a nine-under 63, a bogey-free round that featured nine birdies. The Illini's 12-under team total during that round was also the second-lowest team score in program history.
The San Gabriel, Calif., native, carded 17 birdies and played 48 holes at-or-below par, posting scores under 70 in the first two rounds of the event.
This marks the second-career weekly honor for Sy, who was also named co-golfer of the week on Sept. 29.
The Fighting Illini are back in action on March 13, where they head to Johns Island, S.C., to compete in the Briar's Creek Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston.
