CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois men's tennis fought hard on Friday on the first day of the Commodore Invite, winning each of their singles matches.
Graduate student Nic Meister beat Vanderbilt's Jeremie Casabon, 7-6, 6-3, 7-4 while sophomore Mathis Debru also took on a Commodore, Connor Robb-Wilcox, beating him 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
Freshman Kenta Miyoshi was victorious in his singles match against Vanderbilt's Paul Wang, finishing with a 6-3, 6-2 outcome
Debru and Miyoshi paired up to go against Georgia Tech's Andres Martin and Rohan Sachdev, but lost 8-4. With the uneven amount of Illini, graduate student Nic Meister paired up with South Carolina's Lucas da Silva. The pair narrowly dropped the match, 8-6, to Florida's Will Grant and Axel Nefve.
