EUGENE, ORE. – Illinois track and field graduate student Jon Davis earned First-Team All-America honors with a sixth-place finish in the men's 1500m final at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday (June 10) night at Hayward Field.
"Jonathan's consistency of high performances has been phenomenal," said assistant coach Sarah Haveman. "He continues to represent Illinois well on the biggest stages and we are proud of him."
Davis, who turned in the fastest qualifying time in the semifinals on Wednesday, finished in sixth place in a time of 3:46.15. It was his second All-America honor of his career after earning Second Team All-America honors as a freshman in the 5k.
Davis becomes the first Illinois men's track & field outdoor First-Team All-America honoree since Devin Quinn placed seventh in the 100m at the 2019 NCAA Championships.
Junior Olivia Howell is next up for the Illini and will wrap up the 2021-22 Illinois athletics year with the NCAA Championships women's 1500m final on Saturday (June 11) at 4:41 p.m. CT.
