PEORIA, Ill. — Illinois earned a 9-6 win over Bradley at Dozer Park in Peoria on Wednesday night. Ryan Kutt was outstanding on the mound, entering out of the bullpen in the second inning and throwing a season-high 4.2 innings while allowing no runs on just one hit. Jacob Campbell led the way at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Illinois is now 21-17 on the season (11-4 B1G) while Bradley moves to 13-21 overall.
After the Illini gave up two runs in the first inning, Jacob Campbell put the Orange and Blue on the board with a solo home run in the second inning, his fifth of the season and second in as many games. Both teams were fairly quiet offensively until the sixth inning when the Illini put up four runs to take a 7-3 lead over the Braves.
Illinois tacked on two runs in the eighth inning following a three-run seventh from Bradley to take a 9-6 lead into the final inning.
Ryan Kutt is credited with the win and moves to 1-2 on the year while Bradley's Campbell takes the loss and is now 0-4. Tommy Green picks up his second save of the season.
Illinois is back on the road this weekend, playing a three-game B1G series at Indiana.
