Dumont de Chassart Named to Haskins Award Watch List

NEWS

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini senior golfer Adrien Dumont de Chassart has been named to the Fred Haskins Award Watch List, announced Monday via Haskins Award media partners Golf Channel and GolfWeek. The Haskins Award is given annually to recognize the most outstanding collegiate golfer in the United States.

Dumont de Chassart, the reigning Big Ten Co-Player of the Year, a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection and 2021 GCAA All-America second-team honoree, is coming off a season in which he recorded a second-place individual finish to help lead the Illini to the 2021 Big Ten Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club. He followed up that performance by tying for third at the NCAA Stillwater Regional. A native of Villers la Ville, Belgium, Dumont de Chassart competed for Team International at the Arnold Palmer Cup in June, and in July.

This season, Dumont de Chassart has continued to excel and was named to the Ben Hogan Award Watch List in February. He is fresh of his third-collegiate victory last weekend at the Boilermaker Invitational, and leads the Fighting Illini with a stroke average of 70.04, on pace to break the program's single-season record (70.55) set last season by former teammate and 2021 Haskins Award Watch List honoree Michael Feagles. Dumont de Chassart has closed as the team's top or second-place finisher in each of nine events this year, including five top-5s, and has scored par or better in 23 of 27 rounds, including a career-best 64 (-8) in Round 2 of the National Invitational Tournament hosted by Arizona in mid March at OMNI Tucson National.
