Herendeen Named B1G Golfer of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Fighting Illini senior Max Herendeen has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week following his victory at the 20th OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, Sept. 18-19, at Olympia Fields Country Club. The Big Ten Conference announced the honor Thursday afternoon.
- Tied for medalist honors, the fifth win of his collegiate career, leading the No. 12 Fighting Illini men's golf team to a second-place finish against an elite field at the 20th OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.
- Shot a career-low-tying 197 (-13), tied for the third-lowest 54-hole score in program history.
- Become the third Illini to win the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, the first since Dylan Meyer in 2014.
- Shot par or better on 48 of 54 holes with a tournament-leading 19 birdies.
- Led the No. 12th Illini to head-to-head wins over 10 other top-25 programs: No. 1 Florida, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 9 LSU, No. 13 Pepperdine, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 18 Alabama, No. 19 Stanford, No. 20 Florida State, and No. 25 Georgia Tech.
It marks the fifth-career Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor for Herendeen and the first for the Fighting Illini in 2026-27.
