Comeback Bid Falls Short at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Illinois women's tennis team twice came back to tie the match, before falling 4-3 at Penn State on Sunday (April 10) in the the Sarni Tennis Center.  

The Illini (13-7, 6-2 B1G) dropped the doubles point with a 6-0 defeat on court three, followed by a 6-3 setback on court two.

The Nittany Lions (10-9, 4-3 B1G) made it 2-0 with a win at No. 3 singles, but the Illini responded with back-to-back wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles as junior Ashley Yeah earned a 6-3, 7-6 win on court two and freshman Megan Heuser posted a 6-3, 7-5 victory on court four.

PSU again took the lead at 3-2 after taking court one, but freshman Kasia Treiber knotted the score at 3-3 with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles. All eyes turned to No. 6 singles as senior Shivani Ingle dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision as the Nittany Lions took the 4-3 decision.
