PREVIEW
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Illinois baseball team heads to Minnesota this weekend for three games at the Cambria College Classic at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Illini will face No. 12 Notre Dame, West Virginia, and Kansas from Friday-Sunday.
The Illini have fared well at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. Illinois first played at the stadium in 2018 and swept three games to win the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge against No. 11 UCLA, Arizona, and Washington. Illinois played there again last season and won three of four against Minnesota.
This weekend the Illini will get their first opportunity against a ranked opponent when they face No. 12 Notre Dame on Friday. The Irish are off to a 5-1 start one year removed from going 34-13 and finishing one game away from the College World Series in the Super Regional against eventual national champion Mississippi State.
Illinois (2-4) is coming off a 1-2 weekend at Coastal Carolina that included a win over Middle Tennessee. The Illini are led by Jacob Cambell (.375), Danny Doligale (.333), and Branden Comia (.318), who are all hitting over .300 over the first two weekends.
All three games will be streamed on BTN+. Scott Beatty has the radio call on the Fighting Illini Sports Network.
