URBANA, Ill. – The Illinois women's tennis team continued its strong play inside Atkins Tennis Center with a 4-3 victory over Maryland on Friday (March 25) night.
The Illini improved to 9-6 on the season and 2-1 in the Big Ten, while registering their eighth win at home.
Sophomore Kate Duong and freshman Megan Heuser sailed to a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, before the junior duo of Ashley Yeah and Josie Frazier gave the doubles point to the Illini with a 6-3 win on court two.
It was a back-and-forth affair in singles play as the Terrapins (12-2, 1-1 B1G) tied the score at 1-1 with a win on court three, before the Illini earned back-to-back singles victories as Heuser took a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jojo Bach on court four and Yeah defeated Minorka Miranda, 6-2, 6-2, on court two for her 10th singles victory of the season.
Maryland added another point on court one, but freshman Kasia Treiber finished off the Illinois win with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Kallista Liu on court five.

Illinois wraps up its four-match homestand on Sunday (March 27) as the Illini take on Rutgers at 11 a.m. CT at Atkins Tennis Center. Illinois will be hosting 'Breakfast of Champions' at Atkins on Sunday, with free bagels & cream cheese, donuts and coffee for all fans in attendance.
