URBANA, Ill. – The Illinois women's tennis team put together a weekend sweep to secure its 10th win of the season with a 7-0 victory over Rutgers on Sunday (March 17) afternoon at Atkins Tennis Center.
With the win, the Illini improve to 10-6 on the season and 3-1 in the Big Ten, while pushing their record at home to 9-1.
The Illini earned the doubles point for the 12th time this season as the junior duo of Ashley Yeah and Josie Frazier made quick work at No. 2 doubles, before sophomore Kate Duong and freshman Megan Heuser secured the point with a 6-3 win on court one.
Illinois' No. 1 doubles team continued the strong play into singles as Duong struck first with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Tess Fisher on court one, before Heuser took a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Minchae Kim on court four. Freshman Kasia Treiber then sealed the win for the second-straight match with a 6-0, 7-5 defeat of Daira Cardenas on court five.
The Illini rounded out the sweep with win from Yeah (6-4, 7-5) on court two, senior Shivani Ingle (6-2, 6-4) on court six and Frazier (6-7, 6-3, 10-6) on court three.
