After Mia Takekawa's record performances last weekend she was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the third time in her career. She is the first Illini gymnast to be named Gymnast of the Week since she received the honor in 2020.
On Thursday Takekawa scored her second career 10 on beam, becoming the only Illini gymnast to score two tens in her career. She also set three new career-highs on bars (9.950), floor (9.925) and all-around (39.750). Her all-around score was the highest in program history. She won three event titles and a share of the floor title vs Bowling Green: Bars, Beam, All-Around. She also helped the vault team set a new program record (49.475) scoring a 9.875.
On Saturday In the quad meet against Missouri, Iowa State and Lindenwood Takeawa's 39.575 in the all-round tied for sixth best in program history. She added two more event titles and a share of the beam title in quad meet against Missouri, Lindenwood and Iowa State: Bars (9.950) and All-Around (39.575).
