ROSEMONT, Ill. – After a red-hot weekend at the plate, redshirt sophomore Jaelyn Vickery was named co-B1G Player of the Week as announced by the conference office.
Vickery went 8-for-16 at the plate this weekend (.500 AVG) with three doubles, two home runs, and four RBIs. She also grabbed three steals over the weekend.
Against Western Illinois, Vickery collected two doubles and a home run while driving in two runs and stealing a bag in the field. In Illinois' upset victory over #10 Arkansas on Sunday, Vickery launched a two-run home run in the sixth inning, fueling the Illini's comeback victory.
Vickery is Illinois' first B1G Player of the Week since junior Delaney Rummell took home co-honors on Apr. 20, 2021, and is the first Illini outfielder to garner Player of the Week honors since Alex Booker on Feb. 24, 2014.
