CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Redshirt junior Zac Braunagel claimed the top spot on the podium in the 197-pound championship at the Michigan State University (MSU) Open on Saturday, Nov. 5. Zac pinned his opponent, Gavin Hoffman (Ohio State), in 4:20. He made the move up from 184 pounds to 197 pounds this offseason.

Three other Illini wrestlers finished in the top three in their respective weight class. Redshirt sophomore Lucas Byrd claimed second at 133 pounds, redshirt junior Danny Braunagel earned second at 165 pounds and redshirt sophomore Edmond Ruth placed third at 174 pounds.
