Son of Kevin and Jennifer Beers. He had been wrestling since he was 4 years old and his dad is his biggest influence to his athletic career. His father played rugby here at Illinois for 5 years and then 8 more years at other schools. His mother was on the Washington lacrosse and track team for a year.
