Illini Cross Battle Hard at B1G Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Fighting Illini men's and women's cross country teams raced at the Big Ten Championships at the University of Michigan Golf Course on Friday, October 28. The men's team placed sixth, paced by graduate student Colin Yandel (24:37.3) who placed 18th overall. The women's team placed ninth, paced by graduate student Emma Milburn (20:30.5) who placed 12th overall. Milburn's effort earned her second-team All-Big Ten honors.
"Our men were solid today. I liked how they committed to our plan, each other and worked through the race," said head cross country coach Sarah Haveman. "We have a great team on the women's side. Things didn't go our way today. We have some things to resolve in the next two weeks, but I am confident we will respond accordingly and be ready to go."
Senior Olivia Howell placed 23rd overall (20:48.2) and fifth year Ayah Aldadah placed 56th (21:26.8) rounding out the top-three Illini women finishers. Graduate student Irwin Loud placed 30th (24:54.8) followed closely by senior Jack Roberts who placed 32nd (24:56.2) and rounded out the Illini men top-three finishers.
Freshman Brady Masters cracked the top-50, he placed 49th (25:07.8). Fifth year Madison Marasco roller her ankle during the race and gutted it out to finish 62nd (21:35.2).
