ROSEMONT, Ill. – Freshman goalkeeper Naomi Jackson was named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week Tuesday afternoon as announced by the league office. Jackson recorded 105 minutes of action at No. 21 Michigan and recorded 13 saves on 35 shots faced, tying an Illinois record for most saves in a game by a freshman.

Jackson's 13 saves at No. 21 Michigan tied a freshman record for saves in a game set by Sarah Anderson vs. Penn State on Nov. 3, 2000. Anderson's performance in 2000 was also the last time an Illinois player recorded 13 saves in a game. Jackson's 35 shots faced in the match was the second-most in school history, just one behind the 36 shots taken by Penn State in the same match that Sarah Anderson recorded 13 saves.

The honor is the first B1G honor of Jackson's career, and marks the second week in a row where an Illinois freshman earned co-freshman of the week honors after Sydney Stephens last Tuesday.

Illinois will host Purdue on Thursday, Sept. 23 for a 7 PM CT kickoff. Fans are expected to bring the NOISE for Thursday's match, as IlliNOISE Night will be hosted with the first 300 fans receiving cowbells and a special performance by the Marching Illini will occur in the first half of the match. After Purdue, the Orange and Blue will travel to Indiana on Sunday, Sept. 26 for a 12 PM CT kickoff.
